Sacred Eye stamped herself as a leading contender for the major staying race through a number of impressive performances this season and will leave from barrier 9 with leading hoop Ryan Moore aboard.

Debuting to racing for success in the Emsley Lodge Maiden Plate (1300m) on September 1st, Sacred Eye progressed to a credible third in the MRC Foundation Plate (1400m) before making an impressive transition to black type racing in placing second behind Badawiya in the Group 2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m) on October 4th.

Producing a monumental turn of foot in the final straight to beat a classy field to the line in the Group 3 Caulfield Classic (2000m) last time out on October 17th, Sacred Eye will relish a return to fillies’ company on Thursday.

Jameka savaged the line for success in the Group 2 Moonee Valley Vase (2040m) on Cox Plate Day and is sure to be given a gem of a ride from champion hoop Damien Oliver in the Crown Oaks.

Capping a strong debut campaign with success in the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) on March 14th, Jameka returned to racing this time for third in the talent-rich Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m) on September 5th.

Again finished third in the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m), the Myboycharlie filly charged home for a close second behind Stay With Me in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) in what was her only other start prior to the Moonee Valley Vase on October 24th.

One of a number of talented three-year-olds currently in work for Godolphin, Ambience produced a massive effort to take out the Group 2 Wakeful Stakes (2000m) at Flemington over the weekend and has also been confirmed in the 2015 VRC Oaks final field.

Yet to finish outside the first three through six career starts, Ambience charged home to win a Kembla Grange minor over 1400m on September 12th before making a successful transition to black type racing in winning the Listed Dulcify Quality (1600m) on October 3rd.

Running on for third in the Ethereal Stakes (2000m) a fortnight prior to her Wakeful Stakes triumph, the daughter of Street Cry will also have to overcome a wide draw in barrier 10 but has been confirmed to be partnered by standout hoop James McDonald.

Group 1 winner Pasadena Girl was arguably the big winner of the 2015 Crown Oaks’ leading contenders on Monday when allocated the ideal barrier 5, and confirmed to be partnered by Hugh Bowman.

Ending a standout Autumn Carnival campaign with success in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) in April, Pasadena Girl has finished fourth in each of the Thousand Guineas and Moonee Valley Vase most recently and appears as though she’ll relish a step-up to 2500m on Thursday.

Ladbrokes.com.au is currently offering the best 2015 Crown Oaks odds, for which Sacred Eye remains outright $3 favourite.
